This book begins its narrative from the time of creation and then recounts the stories of ancient prophets and kings. In the subsequent section, Tabari covers the history of the Sasanian kings, followed by the life of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad. The events after the beginning of Islamic history (coinciding with the migration to Medina) are organized chronologically and extend up to the year 293 AH (Islamic calendar).
