Herodotus' Histories is considered a foundational work of history in Western literature. This book, written around 430 BC in Classical Greek, serves as a report on the ancient traditions, politics, geography, and interactions of various cultures that were known at the time in Greece, Western Asia, and North Africa. Although the accounts are not entirely impartial, it remains one of the most important Western sources on these matters.430
